What Aura Suci actually is
Aura Suci is a traditional Indonesian phinisi — a wooden two-masted hull built the way Sulawesi boatbuilders have built them for generations, then fitted out for liveaboard cruising. She is not a steel expedition ship and she is not a day boat. She sits in the VIP class of the Labuan Bajo fleet: eight cabins, every one of them with its own bathroom and its own balcony, which is unusual at this size and is the single specification most guests notice first.
Power comes from a Mitsubishi 8DC11 running a 10–12 knot cruise. That number matters more than it sounds. The Komodo itinerary lives or dies on one overnight leg — Kalong anchorage to Padar, roughly three to four hours in the dark — and a boat that cruises at 10 knots gets you to the Padar trailhead for the 06:00 climb without a 03:00 wake-up call. Navigation is AIS, Garmin GPS, compass and radio; safety gear is liferafts, ring buoys, fire extinguishers and first-aid kits. Twelve thousand litres of fresh water on board means showers are not rationed on a three-day run.

Cabin plan: what each of the eight cabins gives you
Four cabin grades, two cabins of each grade. The distinction is bed configuration and bathroom fit-out rather than deck level, so nobody is stuck in a windowless box — all eight are sea-view cabins with a balcony.

Read the occupancy column carefully when you are pricing a group. Two Master cabins take two guests; the other two Masters and both Deluxe cabins take three with an extra bed; the two Family cabins take four on single beds. That is how the boat reaches 24 — at two guests per cabin she is a 16-guest boat, which is the configuration most couples’ charters actually sail at.

The Rp 650,000 (Komodo/Padar) and Rp 900,000 (Rinca) figures you will see quoted on other booking sites are not the national-park ticket. They are bundled amounts: the PP 36/2024 entrance fee plus regional levies plus ranger and trail-management charges collected on the island. The Rp 3,750,000 “conservation membership” floated back in 2022 was cancelled and is not payable. Park fees are excluded from every Aura Suci rate and are settled on the day you enter the park.
Who Aura Suci is best for
- Couples who want a balcony and a bathtub — Master Cabin 1 or 2 is the only configuration on this boat with a private bathtub, and it is a two-guest cabin.
- Families of four — the two Family cabins take four on single beds, which beats splitting a family across two cabins on a smaller phinisi.
- Groups of 16 to 24 — at full occupancy this is one of the larger VIP-class phinisi in Labuan Bajo, and the per-head charter cost falls sharply once you fill the Family and Deluxe cabins.
- First-time Komodo visitors on a 3D2N budget — the shared-cabin open trip from IDR 4,750,000 covers the full standard route without chartering a boat.
- Not ideal for serious technical divers or anyone who needs guaranteed daily multi-tank diving; that is a different product and a different rate.
