Budget roughly IDR 3,000,000–4,500,000 per person for a basic shared 3D2N, IDR 4,500,000–7,000,000 for a comfortable air-conditioned boat, and IDR 8,000,000–15,000,000 for a luxury phinisi with en-suite cabins. Aura Suci’s published 3D2N open-trip rate starts from IDR 4,750,000 per person. Park fees are extra.
How much should I expect to pay per person for a decent Komodo liveaboard in 2027?
The honest answer is that “decent” is a price band, not a price. Labuan Bajo sells three genuinely different products under the same words Komodo liveaboard, and the gap between the cheapest and the most expensive berth on the same three-day route is roughly five times. What changes is not the islands — everybody sees Padar, Pink Beach and Manta Point — but the boat under you, the number of people sharing it, and whether your cabin has its own bathroom.
Below is the market as it stands going into 2027, compiled from active listings and operator pages rather than from a brochure. These are per-person berth prices on a 3-day, 2-night round trip out of Labuan Bajo, and they all sit before national park fees.
| Tier | What you actually get | IDR per person (3D2N) |
|---|---|---|
| Budget / backpacker | Wooden boat, fan or shared cabin, shared bathroom, 20–35 guests, buffet meals | ± 3,000,000 – 4,500,000 |
| Standard / superior | Air-conditioned cabins, smaller group, some en-suite, snorkel gear included | ± 4,500,000 – 7,000,000 |
| Luxury phinisi | En-suite cabin, private balcony, chef, small guest count, tender and crew ratio | ± 8,000,000 – 15,000,000 |

Where Aura Suci sits in that table
Aura Suci’s published open-trip rate for the 3-day, 2-night Komodo route starts from IDR 4,750,000 per person, with departures every Friday. That number puts her at the bottom edge of the standard tier while the boat itself is built to luxury-tier specification: a 30-metre wooden phinisi with a 6-metre beam, eight cabins, and — the detail that matters most for the money — a private bathroom, private balcony, air conditioning and sea view in every single cabin. At this length, most of the fleet still sells shared-bathroom berths.
The whole-boat number is the other end of the same rate card: charter of Aura Suci starts from IDR 85,000,000 per night for the full vessel, crew, meals and standard activities. Divide that by a realistic group and the arithmetic changes completely — which is exactly why the per-person question has no single answer.
| Way of buying | Published starting price | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|
| Open trip, per berth, 3D2N | from IDR 4,750,000 per person | Couples and pairs happy to share the boat with other guests |
| Whole-boat charter, per night | from IDR 85,000,000 per night | Families, friend groups and companies who want the schedule to themselves |

What sits outside the fare — the part that catches people out
Almost nobody in Labuan Bajo quotes an all-in number, and the biggest single line outside the fare is the national park. Under Government Regulation PP No. 36/2024 the entrance fee to Komodo National Park is Rp 250,000 per foreign visitor per visit, and for Indonesian visitors Rp 50,000 on a weekday or Rp 75,000 on weekends and public holidays. Trekking, wildlife observation and snorkelling are inside that figure, not extra on top of it.
You will still see Rp 650,000 for Komodo or Padar and Rp 900,000 for Rinca quoted around town. Those are not the park ticket. They are bundles: the national park component plus local government levies plus ranger and trail-management service charges, collected in one go. And the much-repeated “Rp 3,750,000 membership fee” from 2022 was cancelled and has never been in force. If an operator quotes you a park figure, ask them to break it into those parts in writing.
| Line item | Typical 2027 figure | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Komodo National Park entry — foreign visitor | Rp 250,000 per person per visit | Official, PP No. 36/2024 |
| Komodo National Park entry — Indonesian visitor | Rp 50,000 weekday / Rp 75,000 weekend and holiday | Official, PP No. 36/2024 |
| “Komodo/Padar Rp 650,000”, “Rinca Rp 900,000” | As quoted locally | Bundle of park fee + regional levy + ranger service — not the park ticket |
| Diver surcharge, harbour fee | around Rp 25,000 per person per day each | Operator-collected practice, not a published national tariff — verify |
| Flights to Labuan Bajo (LBJ) | Bali–LBJ roughly Rp 600,000–1,500,000 one way; Jakarta–LBJ roughly Rp 900,000–2,200,000 | Seasonal range, changes constantly |
| Alcohol, dive tanks, tips | Not published on any standard open-trip rate | Treat as excluded and confirm in writing |
Why the cheap tier is cheap
It is worth being specific rather than snobbish about this. A budget boat is cheaper for four measurable reasons, and every one of them is something you can ask about before you pay:
- Guest count. Competitor listings for the shared segment show boats carrying 32–35 guests across 12 cabins. Aura Suci’s maximum is 24 guests across eight cabins. Same anchorage, very different queue for the tender.
- Bathrooms. Shared bathrooms let a builder fit more berths into the same hull. En-suite in all eight cabins is the single most expensive thing about Aura Suci’s layout.
- Engine and schedule. A Mitsubishi 8DC11 cruising at 10–12 knots covers the Kalong-to-Padar overnight leg in roughly three to four hours. A slower hull either leaves earlier or arrives at the Padar trailhead after the light.
- Fresh water. Twelve thousand litres on board is the difference between a shower after every snorkel stop and a rationed one.
A realistic all-in budget for two people
| Line | Budget tier | Aura Suci open trip |
|---|---|---|
| Berth × 2 | IDR 6,000,000 – 9,000,000 | from IDR 9,500,000 |
| Park entry × 2 (PP 36/2024) | Rp 500,000 | Rp 500,000 |
| Return flights Bali–LBJ × 2 | IDR 2,400,000 – 6,000,000 | IDR 2,400,000 – 6,000,000 |
| One hotel night before departure × 2 | IDR 400,000 – 1,500,000 | IDR 600,000 – 2,500,000 |
| Realistic all-in | ± IDR 9,300,000 – 17,000,000 | ± IDR 13,000,000 – 18,500,000 |
Flight and hotel figures are seasonal ranges, not fixed prices. Boat figures are published rates read on 1 August 2026.
What that table shows is the thing the price-comparison sites never say out loud: once flights and park fees are in, the difference between a budget berth and a well-specified phinisi berth is a much smaller share of the trip than the boat prices suggest. The flight to Labuan Bajo costs the same either way.
Frequently asked questions
Is IDR 4,750,000 the final price for an Aura Suci 3D2N?
No. It is the published starting berth price for the open trip. Komodo National Park entry is charged separately at Rp 250,000 per foreign visitor under PP No. 36/2024, and flights, hotels, alcohol and tips sit outside it. Ask for a written quote that lists inclusions line by line.
Why do some operators advertise Komodo trips in US dollars?
Boats selling mainly to overseas guests price in USD. One published shared-boat list scanned in August 2026 showed USD 271.57 for a 3D2N and USD 334.39 for a 4D3N from Labuan Bajo. We do not convert those figures here because the exchange rate moves; compare inclusions, not currencies.
Does a higher price mean a better itinerary?
Rarely. Padar, Pink Beach, Komodo or Rinca, Taka Makassar and Manta Point appear on almost every 3D2N regardless of price. What you buy at a higher price is cabin quality, guest count, crew ratio, food and how comfortably the boat handles the overnight legs.
How far ahead should I book for 2027?
For July and August, and for the Christmas and New Year window, three to six months is normal because those are the peak weeks. April to June and September to November are easier, though the two-guest Master cabins with the private bathtub go first in any month.
Are children charged the same rate?
Child pricing is handled per booking rather than published as a fixed discount, and it depends on whether the child occupies a berth. Aura Suci has two Family cabins for four guests each, which is usually the cheaper way to place a family. Ask the reservations desk for the written child rate.
Check dates and hold a cabin
Aura Suci runs open-trip departures every Friday and whole-boat charters year round. Aura Suci is operated and sold through Komodo Luxury, the Labuan Bajo operator behind this boat since 2015. Bookings, cabin plans and the current rate sheet come from the reservations desk: WhatsApp +62 811 3823 875 or [email protected]. A booking is held with a 50% deposit (non-refundable) and the balance falls due 30 days before departure.
Every figure on this page was checked against the operator rate card and the official fee regulation on 1 August 2026. Rates move with season, fuel and exchange rate — ask for a written quote before you transfer anything.
