Our Komodo liveaboard itinerary was truly unforgettable. We opted for a 3D2N trip, a perfect amount of time to experience the highlights. We started with an early morning hike up Padar Island for an incredible sunrise viewpoint. The panoramic views are exactly as stunning as the photos suggest, a real bucket-list moment. After that, we headed to Komodo Island for our much-anticipated Komodo dragon trekking. We were with a licensed ranger, which is mandatory and really informative. Seeing these ancient creatures in their natural habitat was a humbling experience.

Underwater Wonders and Iconic Beaches

Snorkeling at Pink Beach was next, and it lived up to its name – the sand really does have a beautiful rose hue, and the underwater world was vibrant. Later, we hit Manta Point. This was a definite highlight; we were lucky enough to swim alongside several majestic manta rays. It’s an incredible feeling to be so close to such magnificent creatures. Taka Makassar, a pristine sandbank, was another stop, perfect for relaxing and enjoying the clear turquoise waters. We also witnessed the spectacular Kalong Island flying fox sunset, watching thousands of bats emerge from the mangroves as the sun dipped below the horizon.

Planning Your Komodo Liveaboard

For the calmest seas and best underwater visibility, April to November is the ideal time to visit. We found sharing trips to be a great option. For example, a Superior cabin on the Leticia Phinisi starts from Rp 9,500,000. Deluxe cabins are Rp 12,000,000, a Master Main Deck cabin is Rp 14,000,000, and the Tangkuban Parahu Master Suite is Rp 15,000,000 per cabin. If you prefer more privacy, private yacht charters begin at Rp 35,000,000 per night. Open trip departures are frequent, happening every Friday and Monday year-round from Labuan Bajo. Don’t forget the additional fees: the harbour fee is IDR 25,000 per person (usually paid once), and ranger fees for trekking are IDR 150,000 (shared per group) for Padar Island, and another IDR 250,000 per group for Komodo Island. Keep these costs in mind when budgeting for your trip.

For arrangements, a specialist offering Komodo luxury tour can coordinate this end to end.
